PAULA OLSON
SUPERVISING TEACHER
EDUCATION:
I grew up in Ogden, Iowa and graduated from Ogden High School. I received my B.S. degree in Elementary Education from Iowa State University. I furthered my education with a Master’s Degree in Quality Schools from Graceland University.
EXPERIENCE:
I am a recently retired teacher who taught in the West Des Moines school system at Phenix Elementary and Fairmeadows Elementary for 34 years. During that time I taught Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, Title 1 Reading, and I was also a Literacy Coach. The past 3 years I have had the opportunity to be a substitute teacher throughout the district including the Homeschool Program at Rex Mathes. I am excited to be a part of the Homeschool Program and be able to work with the Homeschool Families!
FAMILY:
My husband, Randy and I have been married for 35 years. We have 2 grown adult children, a daughter-in-law, and 2 adorable granddaughters.
INTERESTS:
I love to travel and explore with my family. I also love to cook, golf, read, play games, attend sporting events and spend time with my family.
WHY I LOVE TEACHING:
Teaching has always been a passion for me ever since I was little. I love being around kids and seeing their faces light up when they learn something new! The joy of learning is something I cherish and want all of my students to love as well!
