EDUCATION

I grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and graduated from Kennedy High School. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Central College in Pella, Iowa and my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Northern Colorado.

EXPERIENCE

I taught 5th grade Language Arts and Science in Pella, Iowa and then 6th grade Math and Science in Littleton, Colorado.  After we moved back to Iowa and started a family, I stayed at home with my four boys.  I homeschooled the boys up through 6th or 7th grade and they all attended West Des Moines HSAP Enrichment Classes. I have coached FIRST Lego League teams and tutored students in math over the past 9 years.

FAMILY

My husband, Mark, and I live with the boys on an acreage outside of Grimes with a whole herd of chickens and a chocolate lab named Juney.  This year all the boys will be in school at Dallas Center Grimes.

WHY I LOVE TEACHING

I love designing environments where people are safe to explore, experiment, and discover new things. I love getting a front row seat to people solving hard problems and doing more than they thought they were capable of.  I am grateful for our homeschooling journey and excited to be able to support other families in their journeys.
